Design and cycling
The project examines way in which design can encourage more people to cycle. Through interviews with road users, cyclists and organisations two issues became apparent - that not enough women were cycling and that lorries are the biggest cause of cyclist fatalities. After attending a cycling safety training day for HGV drivers their feedback was that cyclists needed to be more visible, even during the day. The coat was designed to be a convenient and fashionable way for women to be visible to other road users.
